Andrés Chomczyk Penedo is a postdoctoral research fellow at the Faculty of Law (ICADE) of the Universidad Pontificia Comillas. Previously, he was a postdoctoral researcher at the Institute of Law and Technology (IDT) of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB), where he was awarded a Juan de la Cierva postdoctoral fellowship by the Spanish Ministry of Science, Innovation, and Universities.
He earned his PhD in Law from the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (2024), where he was a doctoral researcher in the Law, Science, Technology and Society (LSTS) research group. His doctoral thesis was conducted within the framework of the PROTECT MSCA ITN project, where he was a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellow from 2019 to 2023. He remains associated with LSTS as an affiliated researcher. Additionally, he was an active participant in the activities of the Brussels Privacy Hub (BPH), where he continues to serve as a Senior Fellow in Digital Finance.
His research interests lie at (i) the intersection of data protection and financial services, and (ii) the regulation of data spaces and the fair free flow of data within the Digital Single Market.
